Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have tried and failed many times at making the perfect oatmeal cookies that my husband loved from his childhood. After a few years of being married I finally found just the right combination that simply cannot be beat! It takes a little longer than your typical chocolate chip recipe, but it’s totally worth it!


1 cup butter

1.5 cups flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp clove

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla

2 tbsp water

1.5 cups chocolate chips (semisweet)

3 cups old fashioned oats


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. Brown the butter in a pot. Once browned, pour it into a glass or metal bowl to cool 3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking soda, nutmeg and cinnamon.

4. Beat together the sugars, eggs, browned butter, and vanilla

5. Stir in the flour mixture and add the water

6. Stir in the chocolate chips and oats

7. Spoon onto cookie sheet two inches apart and cook at 350 for 10 minutes
